My name is Steven Asare Baffour. I am 35 years of age. I come from Berekum in the region of Brong Ahafo of Ghana. I was born into a polygamous family. I am the first child of four among my mother's children. And both my parents didn't have enough money to take care of me through school because they did not have jobs that brought up good income. Therefore I had to depend on government subsides and individual supports before I was able to complete my Senior High School certificate. Even as at the time when I completed I still owed school fees. I had to clear all my debts before I could receive my Senior High School certificate. That's was how difficult from my childhood to adulthood became.
But besides all these challenges, I thank my God that I was able to go to the Bible School for four good years to become a Pastor to this small Baptist Church Fellowship in Jinijini here.
I am married with a one year old son. I'm happy in my marriage and with my son, but I don't want to see my family, more especially my children suffer the same way I suffered. That's why I need to do something substantial now so I can secure the future of my family.
Besides my pastoral work, I have been working for a printing shop to augment my support. And that was sufficient for me when I was alone, but now that I have more mouths to feed I decided that I need to do my own business.
My dream business is to run an electrical shop but that has to wait for sowmday because I need to raise the enough fund in order to run such an electrical shop. So by way of mobilizing the funds, I had begun selling some men dressing clothes. I do this with my wife. We take the clothes from someone on credit and after we've finished making the sales, we pay off the owner. Since we started this business I have been able to finance my wife to sell cooked food s such as rice with tomatoes sauce, and banku with okro soup. She is such a helpful woman.
I believe if we get enough funds will be able to start the electrical shop business that will sustain us. Currently, I have made plans to undertake some lessons on electricals. But all this boils down to money.
My humble appeal to all the gracious and generous donors is that I want to grow my business to the level where I could have my own metal container shop and sell the goods in it. And also, I want to be able to raise enough capital where someday so that I can pay the purchasing items upfront by cash. By so doing I will be able to care of my family adequately and generously also extend a helping hand to the needy ones in my church.
