Chiteta Alex is my name. I live and located in Mazabuka town in Southern Province of Zambia. Being the first born in the family of 5 girls has made me to work extra hard in my all life. Having completed my grade 12 at St. Mary's Secondary was so interesting as I passed with flying colors. I hold a degree in mass communication in Journalism. I work for Zambia broadcasting services as a news caster . Am also a business lady, I started farming business because I come from the family's whose parents are farmers. Since I graduated at the University, before I got Job at Zambia National Broadcasting Services, I started working at the Farms helping parents and that's how I also got interested into farming and today am a proud young successful farmer. Our culture in the land I live in, is so much rich in livestock and farming activities. Therefore, the people are so proud because they feed so much on sour milk and milk coming direct from cows.
Being a successful young farmer, am looking forward to educate my children and teach them to understand farming business and attain the best education in their lives.
Farming business is second source of income apart from my professionalism. A happy and proud journalist. Am applying for funds with Zidisha affordable loans online because I want to buy a number of farming equipment's which I do not have at the farms to help use at the farms. At the farms I grow a variety of different types of crops which I sell and supply to traders at the markets, chain stores, and many other outlets selling vegetables. Farming is very important because most the crops I farm are daily consumables to the people. I grow tomatoes, cabbages, rape, carrots, sweet potatoes, onions, okra, green peppers, cucumbers and maize for mealie meal and many more. Today farming is the best business which is profitable with minimal loses. I went into this business because I produce huge sums of profits. Therefore my aim is to expand and to become a reputable farmer and start exporting out the goods out of the country.
My major costs;
1. Pest controls cost K 6500
2. 10 bags of fertilizer K 12000
3. Weed killer K 4000
My total costs comes K 22, 500.00, therefore out of this am able to produce the profits over K 75,000.00
Following the break out of pests at the farms, most crops have been heavily affected being and destroyed. Hence I need the funds to buy the pest control equipment, fertilizer and weed killer to help me control the pests and fertilizer for for the growth of the crops and weed killer in removing the weeds in the vegetable gardens at the farms. Having done it will help me produce good crop production for sale.
