My name is Monicah waweru born in Molo Nakuru county. My parents were large scale farmers and they used to plants potatoes and kept many hybrid cows for milk.

My life was good until 2007 after a disputed election results. Chaos started and people started destroying properties and even killing those they believed didn't support their preferred presidential candidate. Our properties were destroyed and animals stolen. We ran through the Forest fearing for our lives. We ended at a refugee camp for the internally displaced people relying on food that was donated to us by well wishers for few months. Back at home everything was turned to ashes while cows were stolen. When peace returned, we went back tried to restart our lives again but wasn't easy.

I had just finished primary school waiting to join highschool. A well wisher offered to sponsor my highschool education since my parents were not able to take me to school. I finished highschool and got another sponsorship through college where I graduated with a diploma in business management. Later I started my chicken farming using loans and the money I had saved from my college loans. Because of what I went through as a homeless child at the refugee camp, I decided to be cooking food for street children at least once a week to appreciate where God saved me from.

I farm chicken for meat and for eggs. The business is good and people love eggs and chicken. The hybrid chicken matures very fast as long as they are well fed. I sell my products in bulky hotels and other sellers.

The profit from the business is used to support my family, put another back to the business, and use the other to fund my program of feeding the homeless kids in the street.

I will use the funds to buy chicken feeds as more chicks. This will expand my business leading to more profits and it will make me support my family more. With more money, I will provide more to the street children.
