hello Good morning, my name is Eunice Jepkemboi, and I am a secondary school teacher at saint Mary's secondary school rongai with a focus in science. I am a mother of six children living with a very supportive husband, I grew up in a family of teachers and know that being a high school science teacher is my calling. My passion for helping others has been evident in my involvement in public Schools voluntary jobs and as a camp counselor for the last three years. Through those experiences I have learned to interact with a diverse group of people, which has increased my ability to relate to others.
I have also had the opportunity to interact with farmers during voluntary works and learned about poultry farming.
Having been a teacher am also a fast Learner and decided to take poultry as my side hustle.
With the technological and social changes exercise is becoming less and less part of our day to day activities,this has given us problems of weak immune systems, body pains in the elderly and an increase in chronic diseases just to mention just but few. However, all this issues when we bring the latter issue of diet and nutrition in the present day picture.
People have their health affected by long hours of work. Time for cooking healthy is limited and people now opt to tinned and fast foods.
Also due to the introduction of
GMOs, food nutritional value has reduced.
With interest to focus on the issue of GMOs and low nutritional value foods I came up with what I thought might
be a solution to the problem; Poultry farming for broiler chickens and layers and gardening for different vegetables.
It is my hope and wish that this proposal can be used to apply for funds to implement it and save the people starting from a community to a district to a province going up till county level.
My side business is poultry farming where I keep broilers and layers, I also do small scale gardening of vegetables.
For the layer birds, I choose to start with the mature birds instead of the chicks because i want to have what business people call quick returns. It takes long to breed a mature layer bird and this would turn the project into some sort of a long term project which is what I was running away from as it crunches time as well as funds.
For the broiler birds, I opted to start with a small number of 100chicks so as to master the management of the birds as in for the first batch. This helped me to study the environment if it is a disease hotspot or not, weather condition along with other factors which can affect the project.
My target is to make at least 300 us dollars profit in a day from selling of eggs and chiken meat.
Any funds granted will go to expansion of the farm and employing more personnel to ease the daily work at the farm.
