I am Judy Karambu. I am 29 years old and married with two lovely daughters. I live in Chogoria, located in the eastern part of Kenya. I am a graduate with a degree in nursing. I am currently working as a tutor at nursing college with very little income that cannot sustain my family fully. I intend to do my master's, hence the reason for my enterprenuship. My business generates income to support my family and savings for my master's education.
I am motivated by the fact that I have to make my life and those of my children better. I juggle my time as a tutor and a businesswoman. I have just enrolled for my master's of science in nursing education and I am hoping I will manage to push through, since I believe in investing in education. I look forward to receiving your support, as you have always done in the past.
I have been selling handbags since May of last year. I started the business to supplement my meagre salary as a tutor. The initial capital invested in the business was $232 and I buy the bags from Nairobi's Gikomba and Kariokor markets. At first most of my customers were colleagues and neighbours; however, my clientele has increased because of referrals.
My intentions are to expand my business to include secondhand clothes and shoes. I want to make my business grow to a big boutique where my customers can find everything under one roof.
My business has now picked up. I have added an M-Pesa [mobile money transfer] agent, and I am now selling clothes and shoes and I still want to expand and open another subbranch in a nearby market in order to raise more income to help me in my master's which I have just started. Thanks in advance.
Once again let me thank zidisha for their continued support.
If this loan is funded fully,i will restock more handbags and shoes in order to meet the growing market as I target more customers this December Holiday.with adequate stock I will be able to make more sales to enable repay this loan, save for my daughters frees come January and also buy home appliances.
My target is to increase my weekly profit margin to 10000 if all goes well.
Restock my store with more handbags and women's shoes
