Hello my name is Lucky born and raised in Nairobi. I grew up in a family of 6 with my dad and mom and 3 younger brothers .My father worked as an electrical engineer and my mother a self employed tailor. Everything changed when my father was retrenched from work when I was in high school and he quickly fell into depression. Life was tough since my mother was suddenly the bread winner. I completed high school but could not join university because of lack of tuition fees. I also had to pave way for my brothers to complete their primary and secondary education. I decided to learn digital marketing and I was able to start my first business with $50 to test what I had learned.
In November 2021 I ordered my first makeup products worth $50 to start my business. When I received my package I sold the first products to my friends and family and the rest I sold online through instagram ads. I continue ordering products every month and selling consistently and after a year I was able to create a website on Shopify where I would be able to sell online and customers would be able to place their orders automatically. This was a big step since my orders were made through instagram chat and WhatsApp Business and I accepted payment on delivery. This would make me to heavily rely on motorbike business owners to help me deliver the products to my customers and they would pay through M-PESA mobile money or give them cash which they would deposit on to M-PESA or hand deliver back to me.
I will use the funds to restock sold-out products in my online retail shop, ensuring that I can meet the growing demand from my customers. This will benefit me by increasing sales and revenue, helping my business grow. It will also provide financial stability for my family by boosting my income. For the community, restocking will allow my customers to continue purchasing the products they rely on, while also creating potential job opportunities as my business expands.
