Moses Yamba is my name, a Zambian young entrepreneur involved in farming business. I live in Solwezi , North Western Province located in Mitech Township. I started my primary school Bwacha primary school Kabwe were I did my primary and completed my form 5 at Kalonga secondary school. I obtained a division one school certificate, due to my good performance I was awarded a scholarship to study Agriculture Science and Agribusiness at Mulungushi University in Kabwe district. Living in sub rural town life is very hard due to lack of industries and lack of money to develop your life. Upon graduating from the University I was faced with financial challenges as I was jobless for 3 years.
Later on I located to Northern Western Province in Solwezi where I got a job as a farm supervisor working and managing all the activities at the farm. That is how I started earning an income and had to over come financial hardship and break through to see the light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment am working as a farm manager managing a big farm involved in livestock, raising poultry, animals, crop farming and piggery.
In Northern Western Province, mainly the people there are involved in the mining of minerals such as Gold, the land is a belt rich in mineral resources and farming.
For children to do well in our country, I have to get the best education for them to break the barriers of hardships and teach them to take agriculture industry serious because with agriculture they will have food security and have some for sale. I like going swimming, watching football and reading books.
Mainly with the funds I'm looking for, I need funds to install the drip irrigation system at the farm to be helping to water the crops due to poor rain fall pattern this farming season.
I'm involved into farming of a different crops especially the maize farming which is the first priority apart from the vegetables, such cabbages, rape, tomatoes, onions, okra, carrots, green beans and egg plants. Being an agriculturist, I have always had a dream to become a farmer, In farming I have learnt that farming reduces poverty, helps raising good incomes and also provides you with food security.
Farming inputs such as fertilizers, pests control equipment's and other farming tools, these are the major typical cost that incur and the total costs comes to K 85,000.00 for me to meet all the requirements to farm and produce good production of crops for sale.
Going by the drought raining fall pattern, it has indeed to draw my attention to have another alternative during this farming season. I have a borehole at the farm and I have to install the drip irrigation system as the only way that can help to be watering the crops due to its cost effective and water supply to the crops. It will help to benefit more by ensuring the crops are well watered and produce good crop production for sale and for food security.
