Hello,

My name's are Robert Dsouza, my dad is Goan and my mum is Kikuyu, my childhood was quite normal until my parents separated. Needless to say that this was a period in my life that affected me deeply, my dad had a successful business, but my mum on the other hand had to start over, after high school I moved in with her to help her with her soap manufacturing business which was not successful. She applied for a green card and moved to the USA, she helped paid for my college and soon after I got a job, she worked in the states until 2 years ago when she was diagnosed with Dementia and I offered to take care of her, because of her condition her relatives in the states took over her finances and squandered all her savings, I took legal action which also drained my savings and I had to abandon the whole affair, I had to quit my job to start a joint venture with my mum. God has blessed her with knitting skills which she uses to knit hand made sweaters and blankets. We have sold these items to friends and neighbours who in turn have spread the word of the amazing items my mum makes. In a good month we earn 15000/-. We want to rent a shop where we can sell these items and train others who would use the skills they learn to benefit them and what ever they knit will be sold as payment for the training. We will not charge them any fee to learn. This is my way of giving back to the community and let my mum's skills live on as this devastating disease affects her. I hope I may get the help I need to work with my mum.

In the world of today most items are machine made and manufactured. There's a growing market for custom made and hand made clothing that are unique and cannot be found elsewhere. Also hand knitting and crocheting are skills that are dying of out.

I have sold some of these creations that my mother makes and we have a growing demand for more. We are currently operating from home but we would like to rent a premise. Since my mum can keep up with demand we are offering to train students and as payment we shall sell their home made creations which will help pay for rent and raw materials. The cost of raw materials, which basically wool and needles is not much but the skills learnt are priceless. Please help us achieve this dream. Thank you

I will use the funds to open a shop that will train people the skills of hand knitting and crocheting, and from the unique items they manage to make and that pass quality check, will be sold and the profits will be used to pay for overheads, raw materials and expand to employ more teachers.
