I'm Nyongesa Staus Okumu, Born and raised in Kenya,Kakamega county. I was born in a humble background, I went to a local primary School where I studied for the entire 8 years The whole 8 years in Primary school was a huge burden to my guardian considering the situation at hand. I never wore shoes until I joined high school. Every step I made in life was only but a struggle,I vividly remember how I was out of classroom doors several times due to school fees in my local high school. Finally I matriculated to a renowned Private university in Kenya. My current venture is in Cash crop farming (sugarcane)

I start by thanking Zidisha family for this far I have come. You have done me good.

Having hired a land, prepared and planted the sugarcane, it is now time to weed and apply fertilizer.

. Crop-weed competition occurs during early phase of sugarcane growth, now if these weeds are not controlled in the critical period, the yield reduction of sugarcane ranges between 20 to 40 percent. Inefficient weed management is an important threat to sugarcane productivity.

For that reason I have started the process so early, planting was done in the month of August., first weeding was done in October , its time for firtilizer and weeding.

It has been estimated that weeds can cause 12 to 72 percent reduction in yield depending on the severity of infestation. Weed infestation is one the most dominant constraints in sugarcane production. If these weeds are not controlled from very beginning the reduction in sugarcane yield may be as high as 10-70 percent.

Since this project is promising, it will be unfair if weed control is not done at early stage of sugarcane growth.

Fertilizer will improve and add nutrients in the soil for the growing sugargane.

Thank you and i'm looking forward to your postive response.
