My name is Sarah Mbewe and am Zambian by birth. Born on 24th September, 2000.
I did my primary and high school and completed successfully.
I have had the passion in empowering the community with education. I have a community school which I ran to ensure that my community has educated people in future.
This small school has responded very well to people especially parents who wants to enroll their children at the school.
Our culture believes in marrying children at a tender age, especially the girls, but after receiving my education, I have a different perception about our culture. I developed the passion to change the mind set of parents on their girl child but to encourage their children to have the education in their lives so that they can contribute the development of the countries economy than marrying them at a tender age.
During my free time I love reading education and mostly doing research studies on a girl child to better their lives in future.
I have two children who are girls and I want to educate them so that all the girls in our community can emulate them.
My source of income is from the school which I ran in the community and my monthly income which I earn from my employer. I work as teacher in one the Government school where I teach both primary and secondary school classes. I also offer education services to children in the community especially the girl child who suffer a lot in our Zambian set up. I choose the school business to help in empower my society or community with knowledge and to be financially independent in future.
Having experienced and seen how a girl child suffers by marrying them at a tender age, it is my desire and passion having completed my education to also take back to my community and empower the girl child the right to education and bring development to our and the nations of the world.
Therefore to operate properly the school need support in terms of class room desks, computers and employing teachers.
For desks, the school needs K 75,000.
For the Library books the school needs K 60,000
For the computer lab the school needs K 80,000
For additional 2 class room blocks the school needs a total of K 120,000 to construct these class room blocks to enroll more girls especially those returning back to school who had dropped out and as well those enrolling for the first time.
The main income generated from school fees will be extended to street girls, boys and orphans also who have no one to sponsor them and bring them back school .
The funds will work in the following ways, I need to buy the class room decks due to high enrolment of girls in our community. The funds will also be used to pay for school to drop out children back to school. The other funds will be used to build two class room blocks and also computers to help the learners and know how to use a computer. This will literally benefit the girl child in our community have a right to education and develop a better nation. How it will help earn good incomes through school fees and fees paid under parental teachers association.
