My name is Mary Mundia aged 42 years old. I live in Chimwemwe Township. During my early childhood life, I grew up with a single parent and particularly my mother. Unfortunately due to sudden illness I lost my mum at the age of 10 years. Later in future, after the death of my mother, I was now being kept and raised by Auntie who groomed me to be a better youth. My Auntie was a Head teacher at Chimwemwe Primary School where I attended classes from grade one to form 2.
While at Chimwemwe Primary School, I was a very performing pupil and impressed my Auntie by obtaining higher marks at form 2 and I was selected to go to a technical school at Ndeke High School, where I completed my form 5. Looking backwards and how successful my Auntie was as a head teacher, my ambition was to become a teacher in future and make a big impact in the Education sector and contribute positively to the education sector in the country and educate a girl child especially in the rural parts of our country,
'They say, when you educate a girl child, you educate the all nation'.
During my third year at Kitwe School of Education, I lost my Auntie, she died in a road accident while to travelling to South Africa on a business errand. I was really effected at school as I was doing my final year , I was really depressed and at one moment my school studies got affected.
However, after picking all the pieces together, I had to soldier on with my life to pursue my career as a teacher. Despite many challenges or circumstances of life from childhood to an adult, I triumphed by graduating as a teacher of English and Science. I hold a degree in English and Science and currently working as teacher at Chibombo Boarding High School where the government deployed me.
My hobbies is that I love reading and having a background of teaching, I love reading books in library and researching on education matters. I also love panics and travelling with school children and peer education.
I have a private school which am running in Chibombo district, Where I offer literacy and adult education, tuitions on slow learners and primary course on from grade 1 to 7 only. Therefore, I'm looking for funds to buy Class Room Desks and Computers in the Computer lab which the school is lacking at the moment. I offer and provide quality education to the people in our community. My aim is to change the mind set of our culture by educating or impacting knowledge to girl child and create equal job opportunity for both girl and boy, men and women. To build 5 classroom it costed me over K 400,000.00
As for one classroom block it costed K50,000 , building sandy, quarry dust , just bring 5 tipper truck deliver at the site it came to K 20,000.00
However, for the classroom desks I need K 150,000 together with computers to secure them in the computer lab which is needed and the school does not have the computers. Hence the pupils and students will be very happy and it will improve the learning environment of the community.
Following to demand of enrolment in our community by the parents and guardians, it has come to my attention to lobby for funds to add additional classroom desks and 10 computers in the computer lab. This is to enable the students to learn in a good and conducive environment for them to study and pass their examination. The targeted people in the community is empowering girl child to right to education in rural communities.
