Hello to everyone, my name is Benard Makuto Mwanikhe. I come from an small town called Kayole in Nakuru county. All my life we have lived as squatters in kayole area because my grandparents and parents were kicked out of an area near Mau forest during the post election violence in 2007. I was able to go to school untill class 8 and that is where my dreams were shuttered because I lost my grandparents and parents due to the trauma. With no one to depend on, I was forced to start looking out for myself and since i did not want to get into crime, I started selling water to nearby hotels using a donkey cart. I would hire the donkey cart, sell water to customers and at the end of the day i would remain with some money to eat and save some of it. I sold water to people in the kayole area for 3 years and saved untill i started my water melon vending business.

I decided to be my own boss by starting my water melon business from the the money i saved up and also from a friend who decided to support me. I started with 3 big water melons that i bought at 80 shilings and sold at 120 shillings. I also cut it into pieces to small scale customers and sell at ksh 20. I have been selling water melon in Nakuru town for 5 years now and I really enjoy my work and business. Sometimes tourists come to buy my water melon and they leave when they are very happy.

My proposal project is to buy a blender so that i make water melon juice and sell to my customers.I have seen that opportunity to sell water melon blended juice and i would like to grab it. This will be able to create jobs because i cannot do that alone.
