My name is Martin Chatam born on 17th October, 1966. I come from a family rich in livestock and farming business. Having parents who were successful farmers, was so wonderful as children. Being the first born child despite completing my education, I took keen interesting in the raring of cattle and farming to stop poverty in my life. My parents were very rich in livestock and then we had 2000 herds of cattle. As a small boy, my father, trained me very well the importance of livestock and farming. He trained me in the dairy products and beef production as well as farming.
Today am a proud farmer in Mpanza district of Choma, with 5000 herds of cattle and am of the largest producer of dairy production and supplier of beef production.
However, the only major challenge is the lack of equipment in the production beef and dairy products. I need a loan to help me secure good equipment and efficient in the production of dairy and beef products.
In Southern Province, our land is blessed with livestocks and farming. Hence our culture is based on training the children the importance of livestock and farming as it the main source of livehood.
During leisure time, I live visiting my relatives, friends and helping the vulnerable children in our community as well the orphans children by giving the hampers and money.
The main goods provide to the people of our community and the general public is dairy products such as milk , sour milk and beef products. In addition to that I also provide farming products such maize, groundnuts, sunflower and the variety of vegetables. This is the major source of incomes and revenue. These goods highly on demand a great source of income.
To produce milk, sour and beef products, I need at least K65,000 and my turn over per week between 20000 to 30,000. As for agriculture product its cost me so much to by fertilizer, weedkiller and pesticides.
30 bags of fertilizer, I need at least 75000
Weed killer, I need at least K 35000
Pesticides, I need at least K 200000
Therefore, when all these are available at the farm, am able to generate over K 250,000 per month.
I have a good number of workers at the farm and K 100,000, goes toward the monthly wages of my workers and also maintenance of farming equipments and so on and so forth.
Over K150,000, goes into reinvestment for growth in the supplying beef production, dairy and farming businesses altogether. Some funds are used in maintaining pull vehicles and supporting vulnerable children in our community.
With the funds I need to buy the equipment for butchery such as a scare, fridges for storage of beef product, sausage making machine, meat cutter and mince making machine. As for me, dairy I need 50 containers, plastics and sachets. This will allow to have quantities for sale.
