About Me

Am a residence of Subukia-Tetu farm and Kenyan citizen youth. Tetu is on your way to Nyahururu about three Km to Subukia center from Nakuru Plot number 98/2 Tetu Subukia Farm where I live and practice a farming. I have been in maize and livestock farming where I keep a few cow and sheep since the year 2005 and in the year 2006 I changed my profession of farming maize which is a long term crop to green house farming which I saw was profitable.

My Business

In the year 2006 decided to specialize in horticulture products such as tomatoes & cabbages. We formed a group where we were able to plant tomatoes but did not do well the first time. We decided that we would plant out tomatoes when there would be no supply at the market. So we decided to be doing that during the sunny season when other farmers are preparing their farm for maize plantation. In my green house although is not big, I have a section where I plant tomatoes and another one I have planted peas. They do well and I am able to harvest them almost throughout the year. I have also started to plant passion fruits although that was in this year which is also doing well.

Loan Proposal

When the given amount which i belief will be in a good time, i have planned to have topdress (applying fertilizer) my cabbages which i am transplanting in one weeks time. this mean by the time the money will be fully funded it will be the time for applying the CAN fertilizers to them. The remaining amount i intend to buy polythene papers which i am remaining to buy in order to complete my green house which i will use to plant the tomatoes in the coming season of not more one month so that by the time the harvesting time arrives for the tomatoes, there will be less in the market making it to fetch good money. By the end of selling the tomatoes, I intend to build a large water storing tank which i will be using to collect water during rainy season and then use it in my farming during the dry season.

    Dear lenders,
We have tried to contact Mr. Karanja unsuccessfully since February. Subukia is quite isolated and difficult to reach by road. We've had three Volunteer Mentors follow up on him in the past 4 months. They have spoken to his referring official and he has not been able to contact Mr. Karanja either. His phone appears to no longer be in service.
We will continue our efforts to contact Mr. Karanja through his provided contacts and working closely with our Volunteer Mentors to try to locate him and understand his situation better.

First I would like to apologize for being quite since i got the money. I have being very much busy in the farm and now have started to harvest hence less work in the farm. I want to say that the amount lend gave me a good plan to start many short terms projects which is earning me good money at this time. I have started to harvest my cabbage and the tomatoes in the green house are already starting to ripen. this means that in a few days i will be able to repay all the amount lend to me by the lenders so that other borrowers can also benefit from zidisha. In fact if possible tomorrow i can do the transaction and repay the amount. I have started to construct another green house and a storage tank. I also want to start the bulb onion project and the melon project and see if it can fetch good money. Thank you very much
