About Me

I was born and grew up in Siaya County where i was able to attain both my primary and secondary school education. In 2007 i went to the capital city(Nairobi-Kenya) for college studies. Being that i came from poor family, i was forced to rethink of other sources of finance to facilitate my basic needs. I searched for part time employment but in vain. Its at this moment that i decided to engage in an income generating activity. Because of inadequacy of funds, my studies came to a halt. This is when i decided to venture in beauty industry which progressed well until the post election violence which resulted to my business being burnt down. I thereafter decided to go back home(Siaya) where i have started up beauty shop again(Kinyozi&Salon) . Currently I'm a single mother of two and entirely depends on my business as a source of income. Above all im a born again child of God who fully believes in Him and serves in our church(Living faith International a.k.a Winners Chapel-Siaya Kenya)

My Business

Initially i had a beauty shop where i sold beauty products to college students. However because of the fist loan i received from Zidisha, i've seen my business grow hence have ventured into a retail shop. In the 3years time, i see my retail shop to a wholesale. So currently, i ran two shop within the same location.
In my shopi sell household items such as sugar, cooking oil, flour, airtime, seats for hire e.t.c. The goods i sell are of demand since they are used in day to day's basis. I chose on this business mainly because of the demand for the commodities around this place yet people walk a far distance to find a shop. The population here is also high being that there are two colleges, a hospital and residential houses being constructed around.
Typically, my costs are kshs.25,000(rent 15,000, electricity 5000, security 3000 miscellaneous 2000)per month and my revenue is at kshs.approximately 50,000/=. I use my profits to pay my house rent, clothing, food, school fees for my two children, and my brother who is in high school, electricity bills, water bills, expansion of the business, and support my mother who is widowed and also at times to take my children out for their picnics.

Loan Proposal

I plan to stock my shop with 100 litres of cooking oil(100 dollars), 100kgs of sugar(90 dollars), 240kgs of wheat flour(130 dollars) 240kgs of maize flour(150dollars). I will be able to add some money in order to fully purchase the above commodities.
To me it will save me the time and expenses of unnecessary movements to go and purchase more goods. It will also ensure constant supply of household commodities.Others will also be able to have what they want without moving many kilometers at affordable prices.
I expect my profit to increase by almost 50%. This is because I spent much time and money moving to town to get these goods. The money for movements will now be saved and used for other things. Also buying goods in bulk is cheaper as compared to buying in small amounts hence much profit.
