I went to Nairobi from my rural home in Western Kenya to look for work and fortunately I found a person who taught me welding and metal work. I have already learned the skills of the trade and I now want to open my own shop.
I have managed to save a little bit of money but it is not enough to rent a shop and pay City Council Licences.
I have a family of five children who are all in Primary school. I also live with my small brother who am teaching the skills of my trade.
The welding business in Nairobi has a huge potential because all buildings which are coming up require metal doors and windows. I am hopeful that by the time my children reach university I will be able to pay tuition fees for all of them.
If I get a loan am sure the future of me and my family will be secure.
My business is located in a very busy area called Umoja Estate. My main clients are landlords who need metal gates, windows and burglar proof bars. I also make metallic beds which are becoming very popular because of their long lifespan.
