My name is mary nduta, first born in a family of 6. I live in kinangop nyandarua county am married and I have 4 children(2 boys 2girls).being a firstborn I had a lot of challenges as I was to assist in a lot of household chores and to set good examples to the rest of the sibling In kinangop we have good climate which is favourable to most of the crop including cabbages, carrot, French peas and irish potatoes.Almost all domestic animals does very well in this area but in my farm I rear 1 dairy cow and1 heifer, 5 sheep and poullty. currently I want to diversify my dairy farming as it bringing good returns
Am a farmer mostly concentrating on dairy farming. currently I have 1 dairy cattle producing 11kg of milk per day we use 2kgs for subsistence use hence we sell 8kg per day to Tulaga farmers co-operative society at 0.3dollars per kg.0n average am able save 20 dollars per month after meeting all my monthly expenses.am intending to plant more fodder crops for my cow during November rains in preparation of the dry spell.am intending to plant a hybrid maize variety which will take 4 months to mature
Am planning to lease a 2 acre piece of land for planting of maize in one acre and oat in the other acre.the cost of leasing is USD 100 per acre of land.the rest of the fund will be used for buying of seeds and fertilizer, and other farm practice including tilling of land.with increased fodder,my cow will have adequate feed throughout the year.
