My name is Esther Ajiambo, I am the first born in family of 4 . I went to Tenga primary school and later joined Sega Girls secondary school for my secondary education.I am currently perusing a diploma course in farm management.
After completing secondary school my parents could not raise money to take me to college and so i had to look for casual jobs in farms to help me at least take care of my basic needs. While working on a neighbors farm, buys could come and buy vegetables and at some point she could send away other customers.I new there was untapped opportunity in farming sector . With the help of my siblings I cleared and prepared the farm (0.5 acres) and planted cow peas. I sold them off after a month and made $150. I was so happy and I ploughed back the money back to the business through farm expansion.
I come from the luhya community and we have various cultures ,like we have to kneel down when greeting elderly men.The main food here is Ugali and we like it so much.
I play basketball, visit friends and watch movies during my free time
I am a small scale commercial farm and I supply my customers with vegetables both as wholesale and retail. I mainly sale in wholesale price to business people and retail to house holds. I use manure to make my crops healthy and attractive in the eyes of buyers. The demand for my goods is high because i live near town and urban dwellers dont have farms.
I choose farming after realizing that i could earn decent living and pay my fees out of farming.
My monthly production cost average is $130 and my revenues are $300 on average per month.I use my profits to pay my fees and support my parents and siblings.
I thank, zidisha team for giving me an opportunity to borrow and thank lenders for their incredible kindness and good work.I am looking forward to expand my farm.
Kindly advance me $100 loan to help me buy a wheelbarrow and two hoes for my farm. The wheelbarrow will cost $50 and the Hoe will cost $10. I will use the wheelbarrow for transport within the farm and the two hoes will enable my siblings to help me with farm work when they are free. They always want to help me but cant because of lack of hoes. These will reduce my labor cost in the farm.
