About Me

My name is Asantewaa Lydia. I come from Aboabo a village near Dormaa Ahenkro but I stay at Dormaa Ahenkro. I come from a family of five for which I am the third born. The family has one boy. My parents are both farmers who produce foodstuffs to sell on Tuesdays which happens to be market day. I went to school at Aboabo L/A primary school and continued Junior high school in Dormaa Ahenkro. I also continued Senior High School in Dormaa Ahenkro. Even though I passed my examinations, My parents could not afford Tertially Education so I decided to center into business. My parents did well to obtain a storeroom near the principal street of Dormaa Ahenkro. They also led me to acquire a loan to start something with. Dormaa Ahenkro is nice looking town where the dominant job for the people is poultry farming mostly rearing of chicken and producing eggs in larger quantities to be sold in the cities, most especially Accra. The youth used to travel to neighbouring countries to look for greener pastures but nowadays things have changed. The now attend school and after school they try to establish their own businesses. What looks to me to be awkward is some of the men still practice polygamy. I have two children whose unfortunately their father has passed away but they are also put to task to study hard in school. The senior one who is a boy is aspiring to become a medical Doctor and the young girl wants to be nurse. I like singing a lot and reading story books.

My Business

I sell almost everthing that customers require. I must say my shop is a provision store in short. Some of the items are; milk, sugar, energy drinks, sachets water,Milo, tofee, nido etc. Alongside, I sell mobile recharge cards. My store happens to be sited to the lorry station so passenges who travel to nearby towns and villages get access to the things I sell without going to a super market. In the mornings when poultry farmers are preparing to their various farmers that is the nearest area they could buy things to consume in their farms. My store provides the basic items for the people especially those living in that suberb. I chose this business because I could not enter Tertiary institution and I also did not want to work under anybody and managing my own business could be peacefully to me. I started with a loan amount of ghc4000. I make sales of about ghc30 a day and more on Market days. I use part of the profit I make to pay school fees of my wards. Part of it is used to reinvest in my business and the remai der is used to buy clothing and other miscellaneous.
