My name is Chiozya Mwanza. I am a fish farmer from Mundulundulu village, Siavonga district, in the southern part of Zambia. Siavonga is home to Lake Kariba, the largest man-made lake in the world.
The farm is located on the shores of Lake Kariba and we grow Nile Tilapia in floating fish cages on the lake. We also catch Crayfish for sale to upmarket restaurants, lodges and hotels.
I am married and we are proud parents to four beautiful children.
My business is selling fresh farmed and wild fish, crabs and Crayfish to up market restaurants, lodges and hotels in the resort town of Siavonga and in the capital Lusaka.
I catch the wild fish, crabs and Crayfish from Lake Kariba and sell it fresh to customers. I have also exported fish and Crayfish to South Africa.
I plan to use the loan to buy 1000 kg of crayfish from local fishermen, who catch fish and crayfish close to my property.
I would supply crayfish to my clients in Lusaka. They are owners of manor hotels and restaurants. These clients already have placed orders with me for crayfish, and all I need to do is to supply the crayfish to them.
Risk & Revenue Information: My business currently is not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the fact that the health authorities have lifted the ban on operating restaurants and hotels.
