My name is Ripama Salif, I was born on 14/06/1976 in Sokoura in a small village in Burkina Faso. I come from a poor family, my father is a polygamist so there are 15 of us children (13 girls and 2 boys) and we barely ate one meal per day. My father is a farmer, and so are his wives. Only the boys in the family went to school, but none of us went further than primary school because my father could not afford for us to continue our studies. At the moment I sell cloth and fabric to make a living and provide for others, as I have three employees and I pay them a salary at the end of each month. Thanks to my business today, I am able to invest in other activities and accomplish a lot of my goals, thank you!
In my cloth/fabric-selling business, I make a living for myself and for others as I hired three people to whom I pay a salary of $150 per month, and I pay $200 rent on my shop and $100 rent on my house. I am able to invest my money in other areas such as farming and agriculture, and I am able to provide for the needs of my large family. If I make an approximate evaluation of my monthly income that I currently earn through my business, currently I have an income of $500 per month, so that will already allow me to reimburse the loan that Zidisha well help me to obtain.
I want to invest this loan in the poultry industry, as it is a very profitable industry that makes up the country's second greatest source of wealth. I am already working in that industry alongside my cloth/fabric business and I am already seeing profit from it. I pay $5 per chicken and sell each one on the local market for $7 each, so if I sell 10 chickens per day I make a profit of $20, which is huge!
