About Me

My name is Khady, I live in the suburbs, I live with my very old mother and I have two sisters who are in Italy to do their business. I went to school until the fourth year of secondary school, I worked for a cleaning agency for ten years, but our contract was terminated about five months ago. Because I've never been the kind of person to sit about with my arms crossed, I decided to enter business. My sister who is in Italy suggested I should do some trading by buying in the subregion and then coming back to sell in Dakar. The house we live in belongs to [us?] [Trans. the meaning here is not clear], we don't pay any rent, it's them who pay the bills. I'm divorced, have three children to take care of, however one of them was taken along with my sisters to Italy and one girl who finished her training as a hairdresser.

My Business

I've started my activities, actually I've undertaken three journeys in the subregion with the aid of my sister and my tontine [Trans. an investment plan for raising capital, Wiki] which I recently acquired, however the demand is great and my funds are insufficient to satisfy my customers. I buy textile, shoes, etc. in Mauritania and Gambia and to be honest I sell the lot very easily. I'm a woman who's always fought for my mother and children and life is so hard that one can no longer sit about doing nothing. The business goes well if you're well networked and I do my utmost to set aside a small sum so I don't run into any trouble at the end of the month. I hope Zidisha can help me realise my dream as soon as possible.

About Me

Je m’appelle khady, j’habite dans la banlieue, suis en famille mère très âgée et ayant une deux sœurs qui sont en Italie pour faire leur business. Moi qui y a fait les études jusqu’en classe de 4ème secondaire, je travaillais dans un bureau de nettoiement pendant 10 ans mais notre contrat vient de s’achever y a juste 5mois. Etant donné je n’ai jamais resté les bras croisé j’en profite pour me lancer dans le commerce. Ma sœur qui est en Italie m’a suggérer de faire le commerce d’aller dans la sous région et vernir les revendre à dakar. La maison dont nous logeons l’appartient nous ne payons pas de loyer et c’est eux qui paie les factures. Je suis divorcé et trois enfants à mes charges mais un que mes sœurs ont emmené à l’Italie et une fille qui fait la formation coiffure.

J’ai démarré mes activités, actuellement j’ai fait trois voyage dans la sous région par l’aide de ma sœur et de ma tontine que j’avais gagné récemment mais la commande est grande et je manque de financement pour satisfaire mes clientes. J’achète des tissus, chaussure etc en Mauritanie et Gambie et vraiment je l’ai vend facilement. Suis une femme qui s’est toujours battue pour ma maman et mes enfants et la vie est tellement dure que on ne peux plus rester sans rien faire. Le commerce marche bien si tu connais le circuit et je fais tout pour économiser une petite somme pour ne pas avoir de problème la fin du mois. Je compte sur zidisha pour réaliser mon rêve le plus rapidement possible.
