Hello there. My name is Lewis mureti. I was born and raised in a small village called Mitunguu. It is located in Meru county in Eastern Kenya.I attended a public primary school, Mitunguu primary school, where I sat for my KCPE examination in 2010. I did considerably well given the challenges I had to overcome throughout the years, for instance, lack of enough teachers, textbooks and uncondusive learning environment, which was the state of many public primary schools at the time.I qualified for admission at Kanyakine Boys Highschool.I joined the school in 2011 where four years of discipline, hardwork and perseverance paid off and I attained the university entry grade.I was invited to Laikipia University to study bachelor of science in Economics and Statistics.I enrolled at the university in the year 2015.On joining the university, I was faced with many challenges, but many of those challenges arised as a result of financial struggles.I had to device a means to supplement the upkeep money from my parents.Thats how I came up with the business Idea.Selling cheap , affordable but yet quality clothes. The campus population provides a ready market for my products. I'm currently in my third year of study. My financial status has improved tremendously since starting up the business. I'm able to cater for most of my personal needs and also assist my parents in the payment of my school fees.Im single and yet to sire any children. My aim is to complete my bachelor's degree and go back to my community and empower them through enlightenment on the importance of education as a way to alleviate poverty.Where I come from, farming is the main economic activity and they have not given education much significance. The land is fertile and has immense agricultural potential but most farmers are not able to tap into this potential due to use of traditional or outdated farming techniques.Otherwise,it is a beautiful and peaceful place. There is a culture centre where the traditional tribesmen get to showcase our culture to entertain and teach visitors.Apart from being a student, I am also a musician.I compose and perform my music whenever given the platform.
I sell cheap affordable but still quality clothes.I get the clothes from a dealer at lower prices and sell them at relatively higher prices at the university where I study.I started my business with an initial capital of Ksh 2000 and earned a profit of Ksh 600 which I invested back into the business .Since then, my business is growing but not without challenges. I lack the capital I require inorder to expand the business and meet demand to supply.I see great potential in this business given the funding since I have a readily available market of campus students.
I will use the loan to increase the stock of my clothing business. I expect this to cost me around one hundred and fifty dollars.I have already saved some money for this project and I will use the loan to add to that. This will enable me to meet supplies to demand and improve the products quality and service delivery according to customer demands.I anticipate this to increase sales hence realising more profit.I expect the profit to increase by more than 20%
