I am a kind person who has been brought up and nurtured with high values. I am a first born in a family of four. I graduated from University of Nairobi with bachelor degree in economics. I believe in innovating ideas and see them through to completion; this is what served as the motivation behind my starting agri-business. When awarded with Zidisha loan, I will increase the number of my chickens to reach my target of 300. On top of chicken farming, I also do vegetable farming where I grow tomatoes, Onions and cabbage. Increasing the number of chicken will boost my source of income between the vegetables maturity time. I have great passion in not only developing myself but also developing the life of other young people and this is the reason why I ventured in vegetable farming because I can employ at least two you young people.
I deal with vegetables and chicken (traditional layers) farming. Currently I have 103 chickens with about 65 laying eggs daily. This gives me a revenue of $ 52 per week. On top of this, I usually sell my vegetables at the end of every three months. Current vegetables will mature by the mid July. I will use the income from the eggs sale to repay my loan. Currently the demand for traditional eggs is all time high in our local region and the demand far outweighs the current supply. I intend to take advantage of this demand supply mismatch to develop my business. The total cost of maintaining 103 chickens daily is around $ 3.45, which leaves me with a net income of $ 4 daily from chickens having catered for the wage of my two employees and fed the chicken.
When awarded with Zidisha loan, I will increase the number of my chickens to reach my target of 300. Currently I have 103 chicken with about 60 of them laying daily. the cost of one chick in the local market is $1. the awarded loan will help me to buy at least 40 of the chickens which will have increased my chickens to 143. with time and using the expected increase in income I will be able to continuously increase increase their number until a reach my target. I will use partially income from the eggs and vegetables to service the loan. Thank You.
