I am a hardworking lady, married and with a child. I was born and raised in Olenguruone but I now live in Keringet, Nakuru County. I went to Morop Girls Secondary School for my Kenya Certificate of Secondary School. I was brought up in a Christian setup and I have a strong a strong believe in Christian values. Keringet is a good place for agriculture because of its favorable climate. The area receives good rains and dry season hardly affects the crop production. Among the crops grown here are potatoes, maize, kales, vegetables, pyrethrum and peas. The place also has good infrastructure: there is a road enabling use access to access the nearest major towns like Nakuru and Kericho. Government offices are easily accessible because Keringet is the headquarters of Kuresoi District. It holds a major market place in the region.
I have taken advantage of various benefits Keringet offers. I have ventured into agriculture and although I am still growing in it I see myself making considerable steps in the next few years. The fertile soil coupled with good weather conditions all year round motivated me to do crop farming. This is something that is not done by many in the area despite being in high demand. I do plant kales, cabbages, onions and potatoes. I also have a cow that produces 10 litres of milk daily. I like doing this type of farming because I make money at the convenience of my home. I easily sell the crops, except potatoes, locally to those who go and sell at retail price. For the potatoes, they are ready to be harvested after 3 months and an acre produces over 40 sacks. A sack goes for Sh. 3000 on average. To plant an acre of Potatoes requires a minimum of Sh. 50000. On average, on a good month, I get a profit of Sh. 30000. The main challenge with crop farming here is frost due to temperatures which go down. This doesn’t come often though. Which the Zidisha loans I hope to turn my farming to large scale one. Thank you for all the lenders who will help see this dream.

I do plant kales, cabbages, onions and potatoes. I plan to use the Zidisha loans to acquire one extra acre of land for the same purpose. The cost of hiring land is Sh. 5000 per acre per year. The remaining Sh. 6000 will be used to buy the seeds and fertilizers for the said crops. This will help me supply more of these to the market. Thank you to all the Zidisha lenders.
