Hillary is the second born in a family of eight. With humble beginnings I managed to attend both primary and secondary school and performed well. Though, I scored good grades to pursue higher education, I did not proceed due to lack of school fees. I struggle with odd jobs here and there to raise a living. Luckily, I got a voluntary service which paid a modest stipend, and I managed to save to start my business. My home of residence is Nandi County, situated in a place called Kaptel location. However, my place of business is Malava town, a highly developing town in Kakamega County. What brought me to this place was voluntary service carried out by the ministry of Health. Its duties involved; sensitizing the community on importance of abstinence, protecting and preventing sexually transmitted diseases, like HIV & Aids and sexually transmitted diseases. Initially I started with floriculture raised capital, and then I majored in cybercafé when I had secured enough capital. I am now planning to include an Mpesa mobile money transaction in my cybercafe.
I am entrepreneur, whose main services involves; producing copies of paperwork documents like, exam papers, typing and printing documents, designing of cards, filling of KRA returns, photo editing, scanning document, photocopying document, among other issues. Though, my business has some background roots in Agribusiness, I have now devoted much time in expanding and managing my cybercafé. The equipment available includes; a full computer accessories with internet connected by a modem, a laser printer and paper cutting machine and ink jet printer. Recently, i bought 7bags of maize courtesy of zidisha loan, and hope to sale early next year when prices are higher. I opted to buy maize due to rising political temperatures at that time in Kenya. But, immediately I sale I will re invest in buying more computers. Right now I have applied anew loan of 300dollars to invest in Mpesa mobile money transfer. Mpesa line and float will cost 200dollars, extension for Mpesa business will cost 50 dollars, and the remaining 50 dollars I will as cash for mpesa start business.
The loan amount is small but it's good for a start, as it will enable me buy polythene bag seedlings to increase my stock. the amount will be invested mainly in buying polythene bags.one hundred polythene bags costs around 50kes, therefore with 500kes i will be able to buy 1000 polythene bags. in the long run i will have 1000 seedlings, which will generate about 30000kes.
