About Me

My childhood has been a struggle to survive since l am ninth born. I have to do a lot of work from weeding on peoples farms for a fee to selling food staffs to support my mother who was more or less a single parent. I walked for miles to school from basic level to the Junior high school and even at Tertiary I have to be a house help to earn money to support myself but in all these I was able to have Tertiary education because I did not give up hope of becoming independent by working and studying hard. I started this farm from savings made during the time I was teaching as service personnel. I was finding it difficult to get job in public service and a student I thought introduced me to pig farming by lending me three piglets to start with in agreement that when they females deliver I will pay it back with three piglets. That is how it all started.

My Business

I sell piglets and boars because it of high demand especially piglets for starters in pig farming. It is more profitable because I used GH cedis 600 for live stocks and feed, and at the end of half of the year earn at least GH cedis 2,200 as my net profit. With this that I use to pay for my rent, children school fees and pig feeds for the next season which I must say takes bulk of my profit.

With help of Zidisha now I have moved my business to the next stage of given piglets to young needy Junior High School final year students who are interested in pig farming as a way to set them up to earn money to continue their education. I give beneficiaries three piglets for a start only to repay me with the same number of piglets after eighteen months. It is my hope that with Zidisha on board I can help the first identified young up coming Junior High School Graduate to start with feed been added to the piglets I give.
