My Name is Ruth Gasson, a mother of three children one of whom is on the Autism Spectrum. I am a special needs teacher with a passion for empowering young adults on the spectrum to lead productive lives. I opened a school at my house , i live upstairs down stairs is dedicated to the school. The drive to open the School was partly my son out grew his school and i couldn't find a technical institution in Kenya that has the staffing and resources to train him , in my quest i met some parents whose children school had abruptly shut down in my country technical institutions are not equipped to offer vocational courses in a manner that those on the spectrum are able to learn.
At Autism learning center we aim to not only train but to extend support to parents who can not afford therapy for their children. I need your support to enable us to keep our doors open.
I have started a school for those on the spectrum intending to train the students on a variety of life skills that will enable the student to have their own business with support from their family.
The name of the School is autism Learning Center we are in Nairobi. The money I am requesting is to go towards boosting the school and subsidizing the income we are generating from fees.
Money generated
Currently, the School has four students: Expenses per month
Fees Ksh 70,000 x 6 Students = Ksh 420,000 Rent 650 US dollars
=USD 4173.03
Salaries 916 US dollars
Utilities 97 US dollars
= 2540 per Month US Dollars
I am requesting for a Loan of USD 2500 to go towards the following income generating projects.
The money generated from fees cannot cover all expense the school needs to subsidize its income and to achieve this goal.
1. We need to Market the school , part of the funds will pay for the web site hosting and logistics towards gathering information to post example the photos and write up , web development.
2.Chicken Project:
I am requesting for funding that serve two objectives:
1. Offer vocational training to young adults.
2. Sell free-range eggs, poultry and also include in the meals for the school community.
The school is more than just offering an education its also a place where families can get support, we share our challenges as parents, we never close because these children many times have nowhere safe they can be.
Your support will enable us to realize our dream a project at a time.
The funding will also go towards setting up a much needed sensory room and employ an occupational therapist and speech therapist both of whom their cost to many families is impossible.
Your support will make it affordable to the community near us that is Kibra Slams
Thank you in advance.
The money will go towards ,paying for the pamphlets to be stamped at the Nairobi City hall . This will enable me to reach out to parents with children on the Autism spectrum to enrollment coming January 2020.
