My name is Kennedy Oloo.
I grew up in Nairobi, Kibera slums. I am a teacher by profession.
I'm a cofounder of Daraja Community Organization in Ulafu Sub-location, Siaya County, Kenya.
I like getting involved in community projects e.g Youth Empowerment programs, environmental activities.
The project deals with selling farm produce , mostly cereals and vegetables to local community and institutions. Cereals and vegetables form basic food requirement within the community and are highly in demand.
I chose this project because of the availability of land which can be used for the farming project and also ready market for farm produce.
The costs involved purchase of certified seeds, farm yard manure from neighboring community, farm implements and labour costs. Revenue comes from sales of farm produce.
The main aim of this project is to be an income generating activity to support the Daraja CBO which supports Orphans and Vulnerable Children, and promote Youth and Women Empowerment programs in Siaya County, Kenya.
We are seeking additional funding to launch a new income-generating project to supplement our existing farming activities. With these funds, we plan to open a small retail shop, where we’ll sell staple goods such as maize flour, soap, milk, cooking oil, and sugar. This shop will not only provide essential items for the community but will also generate steady income to support and expand our project’s goals. By diversifying our income streams, we aim to create a more sustainable financial base that will enable us to continue funding our programs and further our impact in the community. Your support in this expansion would be invaluable, helping us take a major step toward long-term sustainability.
