my childhood schooling has been embroiled with a lot of difficulties not until 1996 when my uncle supported me from primary school to secondary school in 2006. in 2009 i joined university albeit with a lot of financial hardships. i pursued a four year course in bachelor of commerce until my second year when i could not raise the fees for my continuity. in 2011 i dropped out of university and returned home with no one to support me. later on in early 2012, i involved myself in farming activities to raise funds to continue with my studies but could not. in may 2012, i got a job as school a secondary school teacher on part time basis. the job could not support me to continue with my studies as the payment was very meager and could not sustain me.
in 2013, i quit the teaching job and joined the tourism industry as a cashier at a casino. it was at this point which served as the t6urning point of my life. i got a sponsor who promised to support me in my studies. in may 2014, i joined college and am currently pursuing g my degree course in my second year at mt. Kenya university and I completed in 2017.
I started my business in the year 2014, when i quit my job as cashier at casino and decided to pursue my course. i used the little savings i had to start a small barber shop in my home area. later on, through the support of my sponsor, i acquired two computers to start a photocopy shop. currently have expanded my photocopy shop a into a cyber cafe. I now wish to blend it with a bookshop for both primary and secondary school materials.
The people in my area are predominantly peasants with low sources of incomes which renders them to live less than a dollar a day.
Currently I am married with one kid. I would love my kid to attain the highest level of education in the University.
I am an avid reader and a football fanatic. I normally relax watching football at my video hall with friends. I like having fun at the pristine beaches of Malindi.
I provide computers services where i do the following:
i) typesetting
ii) printing(photo)
iii) scanning and photocopying
iv) internet services
v) Mpesa services
vi) Stationery
they are very useful because i reside nearby a primary and secondary school which is my ready market. I chose it to bridge the demand gap of these services in my locality. i am also a computer enthusiast where i would like to transfer the computer skills to my community where I am already offering computer courses at a cheaper cost.
My typical costs are electricity expenses, wages for the computer operator and materials overheads. The main source of revenue is photo printing and photocopying & Internet services.
I use my profits for re-investment and support myself in my studies and family upkeep.
Hallo team Zidisha,
I would wish to appreciate for giving me an opportunity to get a loan in the simplest way posssible. It couldn't have happened in Kenya.
I would wish to purchase 5 computers, 2 printers and Wi-Fi box for my cyber cafe. These will enable me offer computer lessons regularly and increase internet connectivity in my locality.
The computers will cost as follows:
1. Computer @US $175×5 = $875
2. Printer @US $250×2 = $500
3. Wi-Fi Box @US $100
These machines will make my work more efficient. I will be able to offer computer lessons with ease as less students will share the practical lessons per computer.
The printers will reduce the workload of printing and photocopying as my customers will be served timely.
The Wi-Fi box will increase the speed of internet connectivity.
I expect my profits to increase ten fold due to the efficiency of my machines. Currently I make a profit of US $ 1000 per month. Therefore, my profit projections if will be US $2000 per month if all goes well. Our economy in Kenya is nosediving but I believe the returns forbmy business will be rosy.
