When children smile at you, you can't help but fall in love with them. My early childhood education journey began as an opportunity presented itself 3 years ago.
There was an underutilised parcel of land that was previously used for high school classes. (the high school was later relocated, but still nearby) I requested to hire the area from a relative and began renovations. Although my background is in marketing management, I have developed a passion to inspire young ones to exceed their potential. It was not easy finding funds for renovations, so with a little saved funds and a small loan from a micro-finance I was able to have a suitable environment for learning.
As a parent myself I understand the challenges that arise in finding affordable, quality education for young ones and this inspired my goal. My goal in this industry is to offer an affordable, innovative and quality services for middle to lower income parents. I hope to be the most digitally innovative institution , while still remaining affordable ,and hopefully also produce top notch educational digital content.
When am not managing the day to day aspects of the business, I enjoy writing, reading motivational and business books, playing with my kids and watching animations(they relax me, and make me smile after a long day).
Our institution offers educational services, following the Kenyan curriculum, for early learners between the ages of 2 to 9 years.
We currently have 5 classes, that is : Play group, Pre-primary 1, pre-primary 2, grade 1 and grade 2.
The income for the school is primarily through the fees paid per term which averages from KES 6,000 to KES 11,000 per term. A term basically constitutes three months in Kenya, apart from the third term which in majority of the cases it may be 2 months.
I got into this business in order to inspire the next generation of learners, to throw away the box all together instead of thinking inside the box or outside of it. It is my dream to see children become technologically enhanced, creative and independent, responsible members of the society.
When we began the school, it had just 3 students, but after a few adjustments in the fees structure we have grown to 28 students. We realized that the majority of the people loved our facilities and services however, most could not afford. Currently interest for our institution is still growing and we hope to get to a minimum of 80 students by the end of the year.
The profits for the business, typically go back into the business in terms of repairs, buying other equipment like computers and toys in enhancing learner's retention, attention and interest in the content delivered by the teachers. Our biggest source of marketing is through word of mouth, therefore quality is something we value a lot as an institution.
The loan is to help me in making initial deposit for the jumpstart program from dschool already installed in our two computers. We have already paid 2,000. Plus 1000 total will amount to 3000. This is one step we have taken in our school to enhance digital learning for our students.
