My name is Kone Tene, I am a 24-year-old woman who was raised in a polygamous family. My father has 2 wives and my mother was his first. I am the third daughter of my mother and the fourth children of the family as I have two older sisters. I went to school but couldn't get more education due to financial scarcity. Therefore, I decided to launch a shoe business to provide for myself.
Selling shoes is an activity carried by many young women in Bobo Dioulasso because it is not easy to find a job there. I sell different shoes such as slippers (babouche), flip flops and kaboules. I often sell my goods on credit to female civil servants: they pay a certain amount at the time of purchase and the remaining at the end of the month. My profit can exceed 50000F per month which allows me to buy food, clothes and medicine when I get sick.
This first loan will be entirely invested in the purchasing of slippers that I will stock to later resell to my customers who are mainly young women from the city of Bobo. I will therefore be able to reimburse my loan with the interests and in addition have a surplus.
