Gor Benard Ouma is a christian man married to one wife and are blessed with 2 daughters and 1 boy. We have also adopted 1 orphaned boy from my in laws. I grew from a humble background, my father who only reached grade 5 worked as a sugarcane weeder in sugarcane plantation but grew in knowledge of sugarcane growing until he became a supervisor in the sugarcane our growers section. Unfortunately when the company collapsed in 1987 we had no option but to go back to our rural home in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay district. We had to start from scratch and this didn't enable us get good schooling. I tried and passed averagely and went to secondary school where I also got an average pass. I got married in the year 2004 in a small church wedding, we had nothing in our hands to start with because I had no job at that time and the following day my wife started selling Mandazi's and locally made brown sugar to a primary school next to where we were staying. We grew from that to finally starting a tailoring shop with some little cash that I got from riding a boda boda motorbike. We have grown from that to the business you now see.
We have a tailoring and dressmaking shop and also sell basic goods in our shop. The shop is at the bus stage where customers need these small basic fast moving goods. These goods and nature of their movement gives us good revenue that helps us educate our children, improve our business and carter for our health care. We have also integrated soft drinks and clean safe water since Mbita is of high temperature and therefore people working in the sun would want cool their thirst.
Plan to buy safe drinking water in Jerricans and sell it in cups.
With the limited cash of $ 0.12 will buy 2 jerricans of 40 litres and will sold at $0.10 a litre. In a day I shall have made $ 24 in 6 days, pay back $ 0.12 and expense of for electricity and business expenses 3.88 remaining $20 for my profit. This will help me support my family.
