I am a married man with four children between seven years and eighteen years. I grow up in Rachuonyo in southern nyanza in Kenya. My father was a fisherman and I grow in such environment. Fisherman's life is not easy, sometimes they stay out in the lake for more than a week and wives become promiscuous. This has led to wide spread of many diseases. Because of this reason I decided not to become fisherman.
After primary level I helped my father with his business then joined high school but was not lucky to finish. I drop out in third form.
I decided to move to Kisumu city to look for better life. I had a relative in Kisumu where he used to sell cereals. I worked for him and saved for two years then opened my own business dealing in grains also.
As I did my business I met my wife then we got married after one year till now. My children want to be teacher, policeman and doctor.
In my free time I like playing football with fellow grown up men like me.
Currently I sell maize and beans . These are part of the staple food in our country.
I buy on wholesale and resell on retail. One sack of maize has forty tins . At the moment I buy one sack at around 35 dollars and when I sell I get forty dollars. On beans I buy one sack of beans at around 56 dollars and when I sell I get 65 dollars.
I sell average two bags maize and one beans per week and make around 15 to 19 dollars profit.
My costs include market tax and store charges because I do not have personal store.
Most of my profit I use for children and little reinvest in business.
If I get this loan I will rent a stall to sell my cereals and lock them in after work at 40 dollars per month. I will also increase my maize to buy three bags instead of two. It will cost 35 dollars.
The loan will assist me because I will make more profit and be able to expand my business therefore my family will be more comfortable because they will not lack the basic things like they do at times.
My profit will increase by 35 dollars weekly and I will save about 8 dollars from the daily storage charges I pay monthly.
