I was born in the year 1993 on 7th of January in the village of Borborwet Kapsuser ward Belgut constituency, Kericho county in the western part of Kenya. I grew up in a family of six I am the third born and I have two sisters and three brothers. Education wise, I completed in the year 2010, I joined a tertiary institution and studied diploma in business management. My life has been surrounded by all manner of challenges and opportunities. Coming from a middle level family with the less resources available to sustain me and my fellow brothers and sisters. We had to struggle in many ways like lack of fees and constantly out of school looking for fees. This made me to venture into business that can lift me with the little brothers and sisters. School fees was of a big problem that made our parents really struggle hard (going to pluck tea leaves for neighbors so that they get fees for my education) and with the current situation in our country right now that it needs a lot of funds for someone to take a step. I completed my tertiary institution just after two years and search for a job but unluckily jobs are not such easy to get one, I choose to employ myself. And started by being a cowboy for my neighbor. This brought me up venture into my own business of dairy farming.
I have been in farming industry(dairy farming) for the last two years, I started dairy farming with a small calf that I bought from the money that I got from the building contract that I served as the man of hand (watu wa mkono). And savings from the being a cowboy bought me one goat. I later sold the goat when the calf was sick so that I got the vets attention. I was also motivated by my fellow friends and volunteer mentors that they have the experience and with the opportunities currently present. The calf which I bought grew very well and gave birth to a heifer which and produced four litres of milk daily. Challenges in this business is that when it comes to seasons like drought mainly in my area the feeds are not easily to be found so it forces me to buy from far grass like boma rods, hay and sometimes go far distance looking for dairy meal, also during this seasons the milk produce is of low quantity leading to the loss. Even though with the previous challenges I can get a profit during good seasons that is when the quantity of the milk is high. And currently we have new kcc that is an industry that buys milk produce from us in high quantity and pays very wells.
With the loan of 200 dollars i will buy one heifer costing 100 dollars,45 dollars in feeds45 dollars in all veterinary services with the whole dairy farming.even though the heifer is not going to be milked immediately at least i have increase the number of cows which is my asset and i will milk in the future and it will increase my income,it will increase my dairy farm by one heifer this will improve my income also. with this it will be of benefit to my income and also with my family i will assist more my sister and other responsibilities, business wise i will get more customers and also will grow and occupy wide area in the market. with the increase in my profit after milking the heifer i expect to milk at least 9 liters per day where i will sell at 0.6usd per liter which is 6 usd income per day in ten days it will sum up to 60usd. the profit I make will help me meet the business expense and also repay the loan in time.
