About Me

I was born and brought up in Lamu district in Kenya. Growing as a fourth born in a large family of 11 sibling was a great challenge to me because my poor family could not afford us a standard lifestyle. Despite being very bright in school my parents could not take me to high school just like the rest of my siblings. I was devoted so I repeated in class 8 for three years till my teachers joined hands to take me to a Alliance High school. After learning and completing my degree in the university of Nairobi I could not go back home due to the alshabaab terrorists activity in the area. I approached a hardware supplier with my laptop as my capital. He gave me some goods that I started my bussiness

My Business

I operate a small hardware store where I collect orders from small construction sites and small hardwares in the interior for very light hardware. These goods are normally imported by some people in the city. Building material and fitting are in high demand owing to the booming real estate business. I have been doing the supply for two years now but my major drawback being lack of sufficient capital. 80% of all net profits i plough them back to this bussiness as i use the20% on social needs. I would really want to bring aboard two of my elder brothers living in Lamu in their destitute plights but am pulled back by lack of operating capital. I have founded my business in an initiative to change lives for my customers and people back home. I love visiting orphanages and the poor during my free time.

Project Proposal

Door locks have been in high demand and many clients have been asking for the locks from my hardware shop. However due to the constrained economy I have not been able to stock the locks. I look forward to buying 30 locks @ ksh. 800 and sell each at ksh. 1000 thereby making a profit of about ksh. 6000 in total within 2 weeks. With this money i will be able to retain an employee who I am at the verge of laying him off.

I have been able to build our business many times over. I have been able to employ about 3 permanent employees and 1 casual. However due to the ensuing hard times in Kenya, my capital has gone down and would like to boost it by borrowing so that I can make supplies that are due to my customers. I am greatly inclined towards growing this business to create even more jobs for our youths who graduated and have no jobs because of the impenetrable job market.

There has been a delay of deliveries in the supplies that I sell in my shop. This has caused some unforeseen drop in sales.

I wish to note that my business is resuming normality. Business activities are now on the rise after a period of low business that ensued during the teachers' strike. I feel jovial and motivated to wake up early and open my business early since I am getting more and more customers everyday! Thanks my lenders and the Zidisha team for your great support and patience to my business. God bless you.

I am sorry to note that business has been so low. This low season has been majorly caused by the on going teacher strike and the failure of the government to release usual salaries to the teachers. Most customers had halted building houses due to the reduced cash flow in the system...I bought waste pipes and wheelbarrows and I just sold a few and ordered others. I believe business will resume from this week since the strike is officially over today. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Hello dear lenders.
Today i have called Patrick Mbochi to inquire about the delayed payments. He has told me his business had faced some challenges but he is working out to see it comes back to normal.
I have adviced him to reduce his payment from KES 1500 to a lower amount which is more manageable. I have also adviced him to be updating lenders in case of any difficulties in payment.
    Thank you

Hi my lenders and Zidisha team. I feel it is worthy informing you that I received Ksh. 20,302 on 5/9/2015 for the loan I had borrowed you. I received the money with great appreciations and embarked to work with zeal and zest. I have bought six wheelbarrows and ten waste pipes. I am amused to inform you that I have already sold half of the first batch and I have ordered another batch to be delivered on Thursday this week. Honestly, you are making great changes in my business and in my life. I have sent for one of my brothers to accompany me in my job. Thank you very much for choosing me to benefit from this project. I will determinately reach out to many people spreading these good news. Many many thanks and God bless you
