I am Richard. I grew up in Western Kenya. I came to Nairobi for undergraduate studies at the University of Nairobi. In Nairobi, I have worked as an online marketing and tour consultant for 14 years. I run a blog at how.co.ke and an online business at hawlast.com.
I am as of March 2024 now back in Nairobi. My online business at hawlast.com is growing well and can cater to operations. I manage 30 websites for clients and get a small annual fee from each website owner. My services include search engine optimization, Speed optimization, and software development. The typical costs include hosting space for my website, rent, and internet connection costs.
Almost 70% profit from the business goes towards paying living expenses. This year I have got more customers and I will have some room to do digital advertising
I would like to buy solar lamps each at USD 9.6. Then I will resell to my neighbors who are still using kerosene (paraffin) lamps at night and /OR during blackouts.
This will help them save money that would have been otherwise spend on buying paraffin. Solar is clean energy - good for the environment and personal health. And also using paraffin is not safe as open flames can cause fire and fires can gut an entire neighborhood especially in low cost homes in urban settlements.
For each solar lantern I will make a profit of 14% for each lamp sold.
