My name is Nancy mandira, I am from Kericho county that is in the rift valley province Kenya, Am a teacher by profession with passion farming to feed the needy and as a business. Growing up i faced mixed challenges, I always wished I would one day be able to support my siblings, parents and make a difference in the community.
I started farming of maize crop when I was in campus as a way to make money to sustain my living while in school, After getting my first job and with help from husband and my mother in law I decided to do both livestock and crop farming, It turned out that dairy farming was profitable and I decided to focus on dairy cows to sell milk.
Through my efforts and advice from experienced farmers I bought two local breed and one pedigree which is a high breed, The cows started producing after 7 months and I was encouraged seeing that I can make extra money without interfering with my job.
I must admit it was not easy starting up but with God by my side my farm has tremendously grown from three cows to seven cows all pedigree heifers and one bull.
Thank you.
As i stated above am a teacher by profession with passion in farming, i do maize crop and dairy farming, I provide dry maize and milk. I am able to multi task because of support and my trusted employee who works tirelessly to feed the cows, clean their house and manage the farm.
I sell milk at low prices to retailers, I supply 50 liters of milk and up to 70 liters when their is enough feeds and water.
My challenge is feeding the cows especially during dry season production are low and this is why am sourcing for money to expand my farm to plant extra feeds which will sustain my cows during dry season.
I will use this loan to buy knapsack spraying machine to help in spraying my cows.
Thank you once again for supporting my business.
God bless.
