My name is George Mwaniki, currently residing in Mombasa City. I was born in Nyeri County in central Kenya in a family of four and I am the first born. I was born in a rural area where the main activity there is cash crop farming mainly coffee and tea.
My parents took me to school where I did 8 years of primary school and then 4 years of secondary school. I later enrolled for a course in Electrical engineering in Mombasa which took one and half years. Due to lack of formal employment, I went straight to business after my training and that is what I am still doing.
I am married with two children aged 14 and 8 years and both are in school.
My business deals with video editing of different types of footages but mainly church activities. I got interested in joining this field after I realized there was a gap that needed to be filled. The quality of work done by other video editors was of poor quality and I wanted to make a difference.
I did a short course in video editing and through assistance from my church; I started getting small edition jobs. My clientele has now grown and I am always busy. Through this business, I make and average of $300 per month. I spend this money to support my family and to advance my editing skills.
If given this loan, I want to spend all of it to buy a video camera. The camera I have in mind will cost me around $600. This loan ($100) and with my savings will be enough for the project. My business has a lot of competition and one needs to have good quality machines to remain competitive hence the need to upgrade the camera.
