About Me

I was born from a humble background my father being a polygamist with four wives we could lack even food as a basic need. I went to a local primary school and upon reaching class eight a well wisher paid my fees upto fourth form then i went to train as a tailor from the nearby market.
At the moment I have one sewing machine with at least five materials to start off.
I started off with only one customer but now I have five of them who come from time time time. Hoping that this will increase in the near feature.
Our land and culture is a very difficult one where women are not allowed to prosper business wise hence alot of challenges. Like when a woman has access to finances and is business oriented they say she has grown horns and therefor is not eligible to stay with any man or not marriageable for that matter hence its quite a challlenge.

My Business

I basically do tailoring as a business and I used textile the most. I get the materials from as far as nairobi or other times I get them locally from local trader according to the customers needs. I chose this kind of business because its very easy to deal with women whose demands for new cloths will never end hence there is always a ready market somehow. I collect revenue basically from the materials which I get and sell at a higher price to make some profit and even designing the cloths too give me some good income.

This time round I started on a project of rental houses which I have brought up and I need money to do the plastering so that tenants would come in and help me repay back the loan.

Loan Proposal

I will buy an additional sewing machine since I need to employ at least one person to help me in the day to day running of the business. The remaining amount I will use to purchase materials, additional tailors' scissors, threads, and zips. Thanking lenders in advance for all the favor.

Well because of the lifetime membership deduction, i managed to get about KES 800 which was not enough to purchase the materials and therefore I had to go deep inside my pocket to repair the loan and apply for another one hoping that this time i will get it in full for the purchases to better my business. thanks in advance

I thank the lenders so much for having granted me the opportunity to get the loan even though the life membership had to be deducted. I therefore request if i could be given another amount of loan to help me with my purchases. I will be very grateful. thank you.

      Hello Florence,
I think you will find you need to repay the current loan first. This is done so that we can "get to know each other". If you wish to discuss it further or have any questions, I suggest you send an email to Zidisha at [email protected].

....I just noticed your repayment schedule.... I may be wrong, but I think the fact that your final payment would be more than half of your loan amount, would mean you are unlikely to be able to increase the value of your loan.... It is better if you break it into two payments, on teo seperate weeks.... Please contact the staff at [email protected] to confirm this.

      Good luck,

I want to repay this loan once in full in order to access a bigger loan as u may wish because the first loan as you know i did not gain much from it because of the lifetime membership deduction. I only got around KES 800 from the whole amount which was not enough to purchase for me the materials as required. Kindly advise

Well, Florence, I am not sure that you will receive what you may expect. This loan application is your first one, right? So you will be charged with the Zidisha lifetime fee.
That means: The 50 US dollars requested here may be around 4900 KES. You will get that? No.
$2.47 is the service fee for the loan. $10.50 is the membership fee. And another $31.49 is charged as deposit for the loan fund. That leaves you with $5.54 what is around 500 KES.
Again: You will get 500 KES. You will have to repay 4900 KES. The benefit you might have later with further loans. But for now the entrance card for Zidisha will just bring liabilities.
