I was born and raised in Vihiga county in western part of Kenya. My parents died when I was very young at age of 7.I was taken in by my grand mum who raised me together with my other siblings. She used to work on the farm to raise money for my school fees.I did well in my 8th grade examination and by that time my elder brother had landed a job as a shop assistant where he raised money for my high school fees as well as assistance from the well known constituency bursaries fund.I passed my 12th grade exams with a B(plain) of 65 points back in the year 2010.I qualified to join university, that is moi university.I have been on and off from school since joining in the year 2012 to pursue a degree in Education (arts) because of school fees.I managed to overcome the hardship since I did a part time teaching job at a local school, raised money that I used to start a shop selling house hold items and food.where I live, people value cows and growing wheat. They love what we call 'mursik' a popular drink of milk. They love running too.I don't have children yet.I am a writer. That's my hobby.I write Swahili novels, Swahili poems and Swahili short stories.
I sell flour, sugar, baking flour, soap, body lotions, cereals and Bread.
The goods are on demand because they are used everyday as food and keeping the body neat and healthy.
I chose this type of business because where I am located there was no one to sell the items and people had to walk for long distances to find them.
I spend 6$ on paying revenues and house rent.
I use the profits to grow the business and buy more stock of the shop commodities
i will use the loan to purchase a 50kg bag of sugar that currently goes for $72. I will add on the amount that i have to help me purchase sugar and cooking oil which are the basic commodities among the community i live in.Food prices have been on the hike in the recent times shooting up to three times the original price.the loan will go a long way in helping me recover from the hiking prices snd make the commodities available for my customers. In the recent past they went without purchasing sugar and cooking oil since i had no stock.
Retwil sellers like me were the most affected by the high food prices since we only depend on the small amounts of money we ussually have in order to purchase new supplies for the shops and keep them running each and every day.Right now one kilo of sugar goes for $1.6 far much higher that the initial $ 0.8.
