I am Charles Alando, I was born in 1988 in Rarieda District of Siaya County, Kenya. I went to Got Kojwang' Primary School, where I sat for my KCPE in the year 2001. I joined a Kawuondi Secondary School in the year 2002 but dropped in Form Two due to lack of school fee.
After I dropped from school, I joined informal artisanship sector as welder in metal works since 2005 where I started my own business to make steel doors, windows, gates, and all types of metal works. I am was married to the late Cynthia Akoth (RIP) and we were blessed with 1 child (Marsden Madoka) and he is learning in a private school in Mbita town. In my free time, I do visit friends and socialize.
I am operating a metalwork shop. My business deals with metals works, battery charging and paintings.
I am dealing with chairs, tables, beds, metal gates, iron bars, windows and doors. I serve local schools and individual clients involved in construction work.
The business is marketable as so many buildings are coming up in the Homa Bay County as the town is expanding, through this business I can be able to repay the loan while I feed my family and educate my children.
I have also enrolled for an evening classes to undertake an early childhood teacher education course to enable me acquire formal education certification for my future aspiration as a teacher or school proprietor to help improve education standard of poor children in my local community of Mbita.
I am seeking a loan of US$ 100 to enable me buy raw materials for production of 5 windows that are urgently required by Mbita High School. I will make a profit of US$ 60 from the 5 windows, this money will enable me to buy more materials for large scale production of customized and ready made windows, doors and gates for clients that likes my workshop for good workmanship and modern designwork on metals.
