I was born in Chemwa and have lived in Chemwa all my life. We were a family of 14 children and as usual life was not as easy as it should be for children. But we managed to walk through challenges with my father and mother.Papa worked in the ministry of works and retired but because of the large family he could not meet all our demands including fees. However i managed to attend primary but only managed to go until class 7 instead of 8 then i dropped out of school and started selling maize and charcoal and then worked for a while in the rural-urban authority where i earned daily wages in fixing roads with other labourers contracted by the government agencies.I managed to raise enough money to buy a motorbike and even built a house for me and my family.I have 2 sons and i daughter. My wife passed away in 2003 and i do my best to take care of my children and give them hope.
I carry customers to and from work and to other destinations on my motorbike for a fee.I usually make around 5$ in a day and i only incur licence costs of a yearly fee of 40$ per year. After maintaining my bike at an estimate 20$ per month i usually have enough left to pay fees for my children and to meet their nutritional needs too. I have managed to send my daughter to secondary school despite many traditional people complaining and not believing in the girl childs education, she wants to be a doctor when she has finished her studies.
I will buy new tyres and a suspension system to renew my motorbike which i use to carry customers.I am sure to increase my earnings and to be able to do overnight jobs carrying night workers of various factories. Each tyre costs 40$ and i will add my money of 120$ to be able to buy the best treaded tyres and the latest Sikon suspension system. This will enable me to get more profits and i will be able to buy my daughter her high school books, plays which she is required to read and which account for 40% of their examination score.
