My name is Hamilton Charo. I was born in Kaloleni, Kilifi County. I am the third born in a family of six, (all boys). I am a Christian, and also a youth leader in our church.
I went to Kizurini primary school for my primary education and Ribe Boys High School for my secondary education before joining Kenyatta University where I did a Bachelor's of Science degree in Agribusiness Management. I am currently working at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
My business name is Charo Seedlings Nursery.
It deals with propagation of fruit tree seedlings and forest trees. It involves selling of the following fruit trees: mango, orange, lemon, lime, tangerine, guava, passion, and cashew seedlings. It also deals with forest trees such as Aborea, Neem, Ashok, Casuarina trees. In my Nursery business I am facing the challenge of lack of irrigation during the dry season. If I get a loan of $100 I would be really grateful because I will buy a water tank of capacity 2000 litres. This will solve the problem of lack of irrigation during the dry season. I will use the remaining amount of money to buy knapsack sprayer and some pesticides to spray the seedlings against pest attack.
I am planning to construct a shade net house. Once I get the funds I will use them to buy construction materials that is the construction poles, nails and the agricultural nets.
I will also use part of the funds to pay for the labour.
Once this is done, it is going to be impact positively on my project because the young seedlings need a conducive environment to thrive well and therefore they will grow well.
