About Me

Eldoret is where i grew up and spent most of my life at Iten village before i moved to Eldoret town. I went to Iten primary school and i studied for eight years and scored low marks. My mark was below average and so i did not make it to high school. I have three siblings and i was raised by a single mother. I decided to look for a job because i could not just stay at home and my mother was struggling to educate my siblings. I was given a little piece of land where i started planting trees on the nursery bed. The unique thing in Iten is the fertile soils that makes it suitable to grow any kind of crops. My hobby is listening to music. I always carry a radio with me to the shamba whenever i go to plant my trees.

My Business

I plant trees of different types and kinds and sell them. Trees are important because they attract rain and rain is important to our daily life. Trees are also important for the circulation of air in the environment. They purify the air that we breathe. Trees are always in demand because everyone who has a farm plants trees all round to help in fencing and also to provide shade for some plants. I chose this kind of business because it was cheap to start. I did not require large capital to start it because land was readily available. I buy tree seeds at 5 us dollars and plant them for a month. The trees grow and i sell ten seedlings at 1 us dollars. I can sell upto 80 seedlings in a good day. I use the money to save in order to put up another nursery bed and be able to make more money. I also buy food for my family and provide some of the needs of my siblings.

Loan Proposal

I would appreciate it so much if i am given the loan because i will use it to buy wood to create a tree nursery. I will also buy a mesh so that i can fence the two nurseries to protect them from being destroyed by birds and domestic animals. Wood would cost me around 10 us dollars and the mesh for fencing costs 5 us dollars. I will add my savings for the money to be enough. I will then be able to make double sales, save more and live a more comfortable life and also pay the loan.
