My name is Salmata Sawadogo and I was born in March 1975. I am a homemaker and mother of four children, one girl and three boys. The youngest one is the only child not at school yet. I achieved my general education and also hold a professional certificate in office occupations. I am a member of several women's associations; I actively attend meetings, which take place at least four times a month and every Sunday. This is my first time seeking funding to boost my business, which consists of making and selling juices.
It started in 2002; I was in training in a private company where a colleague gave me advice and I became impressed by the making and commercializing of local juice. I have a home-based business, a small preparation unit, which consists of a small sewing machine that I bought for 47,500 CFA Francs and that I use to sew small plastic bags. I also have a pressure connection that I use to wash the disposable jugs I collect at retailers, in which I pour and keep the juice cool. It is a profit-making activity for which I'd like to get financial support.
The making of juice from local produce is an activity that generates revenue especially for us, women. With more than four years experience in that field, I am a well informed person. Some of the produce that I turn into juice are sorrel leaves - that juice is called "bisaps". There is also jumbjumbe, a plant that gives a juice very much appreciated by the people of Burkina Faso. I also make tamarind juice. My main goal in addressing a request for financial support to you is to enlarge my production unit. This first loan will allow me to buy a sufficient supply of sugar as well as small bags.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
