I was born to Thomas Barasa , who had three wives including my own mother. My father was a farmer and had several children so getting an education was hard.I managed to get an education until primary school at Tulumba primary school where i finished primary in 2008 but because of the lack of fees i couldnt continue to secondary school and started selling chicken and focusing on farming maize.I have three children and one wife who i love and who helps me out very much in my daily work.
I buy chicken from various people who sell them in order to buy food or who raise chicken and need a market to sell them.I take these chicken to various markets daily, including turkeys and sell them at a profit. Sometimes i buy each chicken for around 3$ and resell them at around 4$ each! The turkeys can make me a profit of around 6$ each as they are hard to find and those who buy them are usually hotel owners.I raise some chicken in my home and dont keep them long as there is always high demand for poultry so sometimes i can have 20 chicken in my home today then after three days i will have sold all of them off.I use the profits to educate my children and save to buy my own farm.
I will buy 8 turkeys at 5$ each and resell them at 8$ each while i will also buy 7 chicken at 3$ each and resell at 5$ each. After buying these from various owners who have approached me i will resell them at different markets through the week and use the returns to buy and sell more.I plan to use some of the profits, around 20% of the weekly profits to buy and keep some chicken in my home, this stock will increase and enable me to improve on profits. It will also enable me to put away money to build my new house which i have started but which is at waist level.I plan on employing a young man on commission, who will sell some of the turkeys and chicken on another market, increasing our chances for sales.
