My name is Jane Wangechi. Being the second born in a family of four, I was born in 1982 in Nyeri District, Kenya. I have gone through primary school & secondary school education. After my secondary school education, I joined Kagumo Teachers Training College and I attained a diploma in teaching. I later secured a job in teaching at Nyeri Primary School and worked for five years, after which I was able to open a small grocery shop, which has now grown to a big shop.
I am married with two children, a boy and girl. My son has a passion in becoming a Lecturer and my Daughter would like to be a lawyer, where I do encourage them to have trust with themselves.
I love singing and in my church I lead the praise and worship team, and soon I will be launching my first C.D. Also I love travelling & meeting new friends.
Currently I am running a grocery shop dealing with so many household & beauty items like soaps, sugar, salt, wheat flour, maize flour, sodas, mineral water, and so many items, just to mention a few. This business I was able to start through the savings that I was saving to my account and some small amount that my husband assisted me with.
The locality of this shop is so strategic: it is just after the main road heading to where I live. The community around this area shops mostly at my shop because the nearest shop is on the other side of the main road, about 500 meters from my shop, making mine the choice for many.
The stock for my shop I get from suppliers from Nyeri & Karatina, for restocking and it is being delivered to my shop. The sum total currently that is supporting the running of the business is USD $1,900, and the average sales per day is about USD $250. The upkeep and the bills I do settle them from my profit, not forgetting that for a successful entrepreneur to excel, he/she must make a saving for future progress and by this I do save at least USD $75 . Thanks in advance for your kind support.
