I AM LISTON NGUMBAO BAYA KENYAN NATIVE BY BIRTH OF AGED 30 YEARS OLD BORN FROM A FAMILY OF THREE CHILDREN BEING THE FIRST BORN. MY FAMILY RESIDES AT MTWAPA WHERE I RUN MY RETAIL SHOP. I AM A KENYATTA UNIVERSITY BACHELOR OF COMMERCE GRADUATE SPECIALIZED IN FINANCE OPTION AND WITH MY ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS AND FINANCE SKILLS I DECIDED TO VENTURE INTO MY OWN BUSINESS AFTER BEING FRUSTRATED BY MY PREVIOUS EMPLOYER. MY FIRST EARNINGS I CONTRIBUTED AS 10% AS TITHE TO MY CHURCH AND THE REST I USED TO PURCHASE FOR MORE STOCK IN MY SHOP. IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS I WANT MY BUSINESS TO HAVE GROWN FROM RETAIL TO WHOLESALE WITH YOU AID.

My Business

I run a retail shop which is stocked with cereals, beverages, cooking fat, airtime, baking flour and many many commodities which are basic to human life. The business is strategically placed along mtwapa-kilifi highway which has endless human traffic thus making it more accessible compared to the other shops. Furthermore it has sufficient stock tailored to customers’ needs and the market niche of that particular area. This feature gives my business a competitive advantage over the other shops thus making it profitable. Security was a threat but it was sorted by the employment of a night guard hence the remaining risk is power shortages and the muddy road when it rains. In a month I incur costs including: rent-6000, electricity-4000, stock uplift-10000, security-1500, maintainance-3200.The monthly sales range from 30000-50000, thus bringing a net profit ranging from 8000-22000.
