About Me

My name is Ridah from Kakamega a place called Shamahoho. I live in the Kakamega children's home. I grew up there and i never hear about my parents so i assume that no one knows about them. I have grown and learnt to accept my new big family at the children's home. I underwent primary education and finished with average marks. I was an average student and most of the performing students from our family were being sponsored to secondary education. I was not lucky to get one i guess because of my marks which did not qualify to get sponsored. I did not loose hope in life because despite that i knew i was talented to make creative things from wastes like plastics. I also came to realize that i needed money for my own needs that i could be provided for at the children's home. I thought that i could make shoes from tyres that were no longer used. I cut the tyre carefully into the shape of a shoe then i join it using glue, and make the laces and attach then i saw it into the tyre part. The unique thing in our land is the obsession with politics. I am amazed how people concentrate so much in politics and put so much effort and it does not help them. Other that creating things my other hobbies are dancing and playing football.

My Business

In my shoe business, i use wastes of tyres to make shoes and make a living from it. Shoes are important because it is worn by everyone and it is a basic necessity. It is useful for the protection of feet from hurting and from getting injured as we walk. I offer every type of shoes, open laced shoes for those who want their feet exposed to the air for fresh air and closed shoes for those who prefer to have their feet fully covered. I chose this kind of business because the tyre is readily available and i do not need to buy it because i pick up the waste ones that are not used. For decorating, i pick up small pieces of fabric from tailor's shop and add on the shoes for customed design. I sell each shoe at 12 us dollars. It takes me a lot of time to complete one shoe, it might take three to four days. I use the money to save for expanding my business and to support the children's home too.

Loan Proposal

Granted the loan, i will construct a shade where i can be selling my shoes from. With 7 us dollars, i will add 33 more us dollars and use a total of 40 us dollars to buy iron sheets, nails and timber for constructing the shade.
I will benefit from the shade because i will be having a place to cover myself and also protect my shoes from rain and sun.
